If you live in the foothills of Northern Georgia, you definitely know about this little escape. Although Richard Russel Highway (Highway 348) most popular in autumn, anytime of year is great to take a roadtrip here - even winter if its open (in fact some would argue that on clear winters day you can see the furthest)!

The first itinerary takes you from central Atlanta to Richard Russel Highway, the second one is the Richard Russell Scenic highway itself extended to Georgia's highest mountain, Brasstown Bald. Here you can get awesome views for seemingly hundreds for miles.

  1. When I went to the USA, we had the chance to go on this stretch of highway during Autumn. We even saw a small bear on the highway while driving! Brasstown bald has some beautiful views of the Blue Ridge mountains too!
